Finally the day arrived for which many of you may have marked their calender, yes we are talking about Google I/O 2014– the Developers’ Conference, that took place on 25th June and will continue till 26th June 2014 today. Lets see if Google have prepared well to surprise us this time or not. Some of the announcements, say for example Google Smart Watch and a new version of Android was expected but lets see what else was revealed in the 1st Day of Conference.
Android L: A new version if Android called Android L was introduced in the Conference but will be available from fall of this year. What makes it different from the other versions is its Material Design and New Design Language. This new version will run into smartwatch, Chrome OS, Android tablets and phones and web. The performance of Android L will be better than the previous Android versions. Google promises to let the customers have Computer like Game Experience on their gadgets. Apart from that, it will let the customers save battery with its new control features. Also, now users will not have to unlock screen to check their messages out, they can directly do so from their lock screen. If youre wearing smart watch with Android Wear in it, you can use your phone without entering the Pin.
Android Wear: If you own a smartwatch, any updates related to it will automatically get downloaded in Android Wear of the phone. That means the Android Wearables are integrated with Android L. When you will download a certain app, if it has a version for your smartwatch, it will be get installed automatically in your device. Only those information or messages/notifications that are very important will be displayed on your smart watch screen and you respond to them by raising your wrist, .LG’s G and Samsung’s Gear Live smartwatch are both available now but Motorola’s Moto360 will be available late this summer.
Android Auto: The app is alot like Apple’s CarPlay. It is voice enabled and allows you to find directions, listen to your favourite songs, and communicate with your phone. Via Google Now, you can send and receive messages, make phone calls and ask for navigation all without touching your phone. Google has already partnered with 40 Auto Companies and it is expected that Android Auto will be available by fall if this year. Aoart from that now developers can make their own Auto apps with Android Auto SDK.
Android TV: Now users can watch Live TV, apps and shows on their phone with Android TV. The app allows you to easily search the programs and movies and search can be done via voice commands too. The app also support Google Cast, thus letting you transfer the things from phone to TV. Android is planning to partner with Sony and Sharp to make TVs that support Android TV.
ChromeBook: Google has planned to create a unified experience between Android and Chrome OS. The notification for Texts, calls and battery will be displayed on Chromebook and Android apps will also be available on them. We aint yet sure when we will be able to see them in real.
Google Fit: This app will keep track of all your fitness information. For the cause, Google have partnered with Noom, Nike+, Adidas, Basis, Runtastic, RunKeeper, Polar, Withings, HTC and Motorola. The app will collect all your health data and will recommend accordingly.
