Pakistan Inching Towards Its First Cyber Crime Laws

MoiTT (Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication) has finally completed a draft on Cyber Crime Laws on which the team was working on for days on the direction of Prime Minister which is ready to be discussed in the National Assembly.

Pakistan has been operating without Cyber Laws and FIA (Federal Investigation Authority) and other IT stake holders has been urging Government to finalize Cyber Laws as soon as possible so that they could act on the criminals openly operating under cyber umbrellas. Cyber Crime is increasing as world is getting more connected and IT sector being main part of every business these days but still Pakistan has no cyber crime laws to date which is a serious concern and is alarming to the current era.

Well, it is about time, the Government has emphasized on this matter and Ms. Anusha Rehman, State Minister for IT & Telecom has chaired a meeting on 26th November, 2013 and discussed finalized Draft Prevention of E-Crimes Bill 2013 which will been soon tabled in the National Assembly. The meeting was attended by FIA and IT industry representatives.

The agenda of the meeting was to take stake holders on board with this bill and it should be according to International Best Practises followed by countries worldwide.
