Pakistan’s 3G/4G Auction Generated US 1.182 Billion Dollars

Today, as announced Pakistan’s 3G/4G Spectrum Auction took place at 10:00 AM, comprising of 8 rounds. There were several stalls organized by all telco companies for displaying their 3G devices. As we already know how the auction was scheduled and the criteria for the auction. Lets jump to the bidding results.

Following is the breakdown of results in all rounds starting from 1st to 8th round.

As last three consecutive bidding rounds yield no difference in the bids. Results were announced by Pakistan’s Finance Minister Ishaq Dar.


1. Zong 10Mhz for 3G and 10Mhz for 4G
2. Mobilink 10Mhz for 3G
3. Telenor 5Mhz for 3G
4. Ufone 5Mhz for 3G

So the auction generated USD 902.82 million from 3G and USD 210 million from 4G spectrum.Overall US 1.182 billion dollars accumulated revenue generated from both 3G and 4G spectrums. Now that is one big success!


Ufone and Zong had shown interest in 4G spectrum. But since Ufone didn’t 10Mhz and hence they are not qualified to win 4G spectrum. Ishaq Dar is claiming that they will achieve the target by selling 4G spectrum with-in one month or so.

One big day for Pakistan, getting back into the race of top technology which will not only help boost the economy in terms of revenue generated from this auction but also aiding several industries for paving the path of quick access to the internet on the go.
