 Lahore University of Management Sciences, (LUMS):

Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) – ranked 181-190 in Asia’s top 300.

The Department of Computer Science at LUMS was founded in 1994, as an undergraduate program with just two faculty members. Today, the Computer Science and Electrical Engineering programs combined have nineteen faculty members, with doctorates from some of the best universities in the world. They conduct research in fundamental and applied areas of computer science including computer architecture, computer vision, data mining, multimedia systems, network and wireless communications, software engineering and theory of computation.


Over the past three years, the research by the faculty members of the Computer Science Department, together with their graduate students, has been published in more than ninety conferences, including more than thirty top-tier conferences.

More than twenty-five journal papers have also been published, with the average quality more than twice the international average. The high output has been recognized both in Pakistan and internationally, with the department being awarded more than PKR 120 million in research grants and industrial partnerships.

Pakistan Institute Of Engineering and Applied Sciences, (PIEAS):

Pakistan Institute of Engineering and Applied Sciences (PIEAS) – ranked 106 in Asia’s top 300.

The Department of Computer and Information Sciences (DCIS), immediately after its inception in May 2000, launched first four-year bachelor degree program at PIEAS. BS in Computer and Information Sciences (CIS) remained well reputed program recognized by the Higher Education Commission (HEC), accredited with the top category W. In the year 2001, DCIS launched its PhD program. The department has recently launched MPhil program in Computer Science.

University Of Engineering And Technology (UET)

University of Engineering & Technology (UET) Lahore – ranked 251-300 in Asia’s top 300.

The College took a modest start with the Center for Computer Science, established in the Center for Solid State Physics, Quaid-e-Azam (New) Campus, Lahore, in 1988. The first degree program offered by the Center was a one-year Post Graduate Diploma (PGD) in Computer Science. 24 students were registered in this program during the first year. The Center was upgraded to Department of Computer Science in 1991. The Department started 2-year (4-semesters) PGD leading to MSc in Computer Science under the annual system. In its first batch, the 15 students were admitted to this program. The number doubled the following year.

National University of Sciences And Technology (NUST) Islamabad – ranked 129 in Asia’s top 300.

This institution was founded by the Govt of Pakistan. It was first established in order to train Armed forces and Staff.
