Do you love Google services but haven’t been able to use them because you didn’t want a Gmail account? Well worry no more, now you can use Google services WITHOUT a google account. If you’re still hanging onto that Hotmail or Yahoo email address, Google is letting you use its service.
Gmailify links your existing account to Gmail so that you get all the bells and whistles—spam protection, inbox organization and even Google Now cards based on your mail—without having to leave your current address behind.
The company has specifically named Yahoo and Hotmail/Outlook, so your AOL or any other email won’t work with Gmail YET. But, you will be able to get all the goodness that comes with an official @gmail email address, like inbox filtering, spam blocking and even Google Now cards (for Android users).
They have even named this feature as ‘Gmailify,’ and it’s an option in Gmail that you’ll see when you log in using an alternative email. If you just want to use Gmail as an email client for your Yahoo or Hotmail/Outlook emails, you can turn Gmailify off.
In case you don’t like it, or just change your mind; you can unlink your account(s) at any time, and continue to access them through the Gmail app without using Gmailify.
Google is planning to roll the feature out to more email accounts in the future, so if you’re not on the list (AOL users, I’m looking at you) — don’t worry!
