Yahoo! has acquired Bread – a service that transforms the URL shortener into a promotional tool.
“Through this acquisition, we’re gaining a team of six engineers and product managers who will join our advertising technology organisation in Sunnyvale,” a Yahoo spokesperson said.
On the other side, Bread says:
“When we launched Bread in 2011, our goal was to help social media influencers and publishers better monetise their online content,” the company said in a statement.
Right now Bread has stopped working and its links will be working until next month, i.e. November 2013. After this, Bread has suggested its users on their website to start using some other URL shortener service. For example, bitly
